So, I just found out I can’t run X apps if I ssh in as a user and then change users (guess I never tried). Which means I can’t install apps remotely. Unless I delve into xauth…
myuser@mybox:~$ xauth list

Try this from the console:
load updall path/to/yourfile.nsf -X
It’ll rebuild your indices, which means searches are offline until it’s done, but it works. Or, as a last resort:
load updall path/to/yourfile.nsf -R

So, I’m setting up Apache/PHP under Windows. The former is my choice, the latter isn’t. Surprisingly, it’s gone swimmingly. I’ve even got SSL working. Then I tried to get fancy. Just finished reading Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. All in all, a great read. Quite a bit different from the Big U, The Diamond Age and Snow Crash. All of which I also liked.
