Random thoughts from Portland:
Bridgeport Brewing Company’s Blue Heron is great and the Porter is really interesting. Smoky.
Never, ever, ever miss an exit on I-5. I think there are two exits. One at Mexico, and one at Canada.
Title says it all. Man, is Portland green.
Powells is impressive.

For a few days now, actually. Switched to the Fiestamericana Hotel this year. Huge improvement for a small outlay of cash (~$50 more than the Hotel Cozumel), not the least of which was canned beer. The Hotel Cozumel was much the same as last year, when it was the Hotel Brisas. Serviceable. $430 for 4 nights, airfare included, is just too good to pass up. The staff were nice and generally helpful, the grounds were clean, and the room was about like a Holiday Inn. The beds were hard, [...]
